all votin is a sort of game.. like checkers or backgammon with a slight moral tinge to it.. a playin with right and wrong with moral questions.. i cast my vote.. perhaps as i think right.. but i am not vitally concerned that the right should prevail.. i am willing to leave it to the majority.. however votin for the right is doin nothing for it.. it is only expressing to men feebly my desire that it should prevail.. a wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance.. nor wish it to prevail through the majority.. there is but little virtue in the action of masses of men..

i edited an excerpt from henry thoreau's civil disobedience..

two interestin movies from taiwan which proved that it was possible to strike a balance between artistic and mainstream.. both movies have unique narration and extraordinary cinematography..

au revoir taipei

taipei is a lovely and lonely city.. this film extremely light.. with hokkien french and chinese dialogues.. familiar scenes of night market subway and convenient store.. it sends a simple message that everyone just wanna be happy and have fun.. plots do not need to be complicated and characters do not need to be smart.. yes it was strangely entertainin.. i felt like wearin a cute helmet and ride a scooter or even pick up lindy hop..

taipei exchanges

i admit that i value this film more than au revoir taipei.. this film has a lot of stories to tell.. everyone will receive it differently because it has so much to offer.. what struck me was the concept of inner value.. how everyone attaches value to everything.. and what do you realli treasure the most in life.. would you spend your money on tuition fees or travel around the world.. i identified three gimmicks which made this film stand out.. first it has pseudo documentary interviews in which random members of the public answered some questions on life.. second the 'mother' scenes were comic relief and at the same time were harsh reality checks.. third the cartoon animations were undoubtedly creative..

these two films unexpectedly stole my heart.. it is time to say no to the 3d rubbish in cinema.. and i should book the next flight to taipei as soon as possible..
